where to I hang sconces (electric) in my new home?

I have just had my home newly painted inside and am redecorating. I would like to know ideal places to hang electric sconces. I have a small foyer with white columns on either side and a fireplace. I am debating where to hang them. I love sconces. I would also like them in my bedroom. Any suggestions?

      Sconces always look great when they’re flanking something. So, put them on either side of a doorway, bed, large piece of artwork, fireplace, etc.
