What is the trend in cabinet wood & stain color for kitchen cabinets?

PhantomPhenom asked:

We are building a new house in the Denver, Colorado area and were wondering if there is a current trend in selecting the type of wood and stain for the kitchen and bathroom cabinets? Are most new houses going with cherry, maple, oak, or hickory for their cabinetry? And what color of stain is in now?

im a reasonably young guy and in my opinion cherry wood or other dark colored woods of that nature go very well with most decorating styles and match very well with dark granite counter tops, and black or stainless appliances, which always look very sheik

For washroom or any other room like flooring backsplash and if you have midtone counter your cabinets should be very dark chocolate browns like flooring backsplash and dark if you dont want contrast as your new home.
