How can I repair a kitchen worktop after water has caused it to rot slightly behind the sink?

Hi,

However behind the sink the worktop wasn’t sealed properly and water has rotted the wood slightly. The sink is about 1cm from the tile and the rot patch is about 8cm long. I looked at the worktop from underneath and the damp rot doesn’t penetrate too deep.
Is there any way to seal the rotten section and the apply new kitchen sealant in the area?

You’re going to need to change out that rotten area. You may just be able to cut out that rotten area and splice another piece in, with very minimal cost to you. Or you may have some extra wood that you can use. While you’re refurbishing your kitchen, you just as soon do this now. Sooner or later you’ll have to change it out. And when you’re finished, just seal it as you normally would. Best of luck to you.
